However, the ultimate goal of any business enterprise—maximizes the profit—renders this type of job obsolete. First, in order to improve productivity, companies have to dismiss workers who are less competent or less industrious. Otherwise, retaining staff that are not qualified or cannot meet the standards is detrimental to business. Furthermore, since no jobs are provided for life, employees who are ambitious and hard-working will naturally be motivated to achieve excellence. In addition, the ubiquitous sense of competition also makes permanent jobs outmoded.
